On our website there is a basic recipe of Chinese Baozi steam pies with traditional meat stuffing. But I want to share with you another, vegetarian version of cooking these delicious pies.

Both I and my loved ones are adherents of traditional food, but the vegetarian filling for Paozi pies with cabbage and mushrooms produced such a strong impression on us that it seemed unfair to me to ignore it.

Initially, it seemed to me amazing minimalism of ingredients and almost complete absence of spices in this recipe. It is very unusual for Chinese cuisine with its almost ubiquitous garlic, ginger, soy and other sauces. But the approaching summer has an increase in the number of vegetables in the diet, and I decided to take a chance and conduct an experiment that turned out to be very successful – the taste of pies exceeded all expectations. Try and you are a vegetarian version of Paozi pies.

Prepare yeast dough for steaming, as well as mushrooms and vegetables on the list.

Finely cut cabbage, mushrooms, green onions and carrots.

Cut vegetables and mushrooms

Combine the ingredients. Add 3 tablespoons of vegetables to the mixture of vegetables. olive or other vegetable oil. Stir thoroughly. If desired, you can add a little bit of sesame oil.

Place in the center of the circle 1 tbsp. l. fill, and protect the edges, give it the shape of a bag.

Put stuffing and protect the edges

Pirozhki place on small pieces of parchment paper, put in a steaming mold and leave for 25-40 minutes to make the dough rise. Cook for a couple of 12 minutes.

Leave the cookies in the steamer for another 5 minutes.
