Dishes to fasting can be tasty. You will see this if you cook stewed sauerkraut with mushrooms.

Cooking process

Stewed sauerkraut I like and cook quite often. Usually I do it with pork, as in this recipe, but now fasting and more appropriate is the option without meat.

Lenten dishes can also be delicious, especially since we replaced meat with no less delicious product – mushrooms. Today I cook cabbage with royal mushrooms. These mushrooms are slightly different from the usual white mushrooms: they have a brownish cap, and the smell is a bit more saturated than the usual mushrooms.

If for health reasons you can not eat sauerkraut (it is not suitable for everyone), then the cabbage can be soaked for several hours, changing the water. And if it also boil, then the acid will almost not be felt at all.

Ingredients for lean stewed cabbage with mushrooms

So, for the preparation of lean stewed cabbage with mushrooms, champignons, as usual, cut into thin plates. Champignons will be greatly reduced during heat treatment, so that the pieces may not be too small.

Mushrooms and onions will be laid out on a frying pan and fry in sunflower oil. We will salivate and pepper.

In the meantime, mushrooms are fried, let’s make sauerkraut. If you decided to reduce its acidity, then the cabbage had to be soaked in advance. I only wash it once, it’s enough for me.

Champignons will be fried very quickly, literally in a few minutes. In this case, they will significantly decrease in size.

Fry mushrooms with onion

Lay the cabbage to the mushrooms, add water (I got 2 glasses), tomato paste. Cover it and put it out on a small fire. Stew until cabbage is ready. In the process, stir, try. If necessary, then add salt. By the end of cooking, the water will partially evaporate. Next, you can open the frying pan, increase the fire to evaporate the remaining water and lightly roast the cabbage, adding vegetable oil.

Add cabbage and tomato paste

The stewed stewed cabbage with mushrooms is ready. The best side dish for her will be potatoes, but you can use it as an independent dish.
